Tribal Goddess Retreat, Durham - 3rd to 5th April 2020

We look forward to giving you a warm welcome to our 14th year of Tribal Goddess Retreat and a return to The Durham School.

Our line up will again include a varied range of workshops and activities. Our teachers always bring a wealth of experience from a variety of dance styles and related subjects to the event. The weekend begins on Friday with registration in Big School, from 5pm onwards.

Friday evening is a gentle easing into the weekend with your opportunity to perform in the ‘2020 Vision’ showcase. Please let me know if you want to book a performance slot as places are limited. Even if you are not appearing on stage let’s get into the Friday spirit and dress up with the 2020 Vision theme ‘The Eye’s Have It!’. Why not jazz up your spectacles or put on some spectacular eyelashes.

Workshops begin on Saturday morning and the day is rounded off when we dress for dinner and our 2nd Showcase of the weekend plus hafla in the main hall. There will be performances from our teachers, class show backs and also time for you all to get up and do some improv! Bring your drum and zills along and have a play too. There is no bar so you need to bring your own drinks (special juice) for the weekend.

We have another set of wonderful workshops on the Sunday, rounding off the weekend with a closing circle to say our farewells in the afternoon.

  • The will be a souk open throughout the weekend

  • The Goddess Spa will again be offering therapies for weary dancers.

All in all a great value, a Tribal Dance orientated, inclusive, educational, community minded, spiritually uplifting, fabulous way to spend a weekend.

The Durham School
Quarryheads Lane

Durham School is a private boarding school during term time and we have been hugely impressed with the standard of the catering. It is not however an hotel, so expect the facilities to reflect this. There are kettles with tea and coffee available in the student common rooms located in each of the accommodation blocks.

All bedding is provided but bring your own towel for showers & if you love your pillow bring it with you too. Sleeping accommodation is separate from the main school building within a 2 min walk so perhaps bring a brolley just in case. There is free parking within the school grounds. On street parking requires you to buy a ticket for the times displayed. The school is a short walk from the Cathedral and city amenities and is convenient for Durham coach and rail stations.

£240 which includes all classes and full board. A limited number of single rooms are available at £15 supplement, this goes to the Daft as a Brush charity.

Please pay an initial deposit of £60 (non refundable) to secure your place. A second payment of £60 will be due by 1st October with the remaining £120 balance due by 14th February.

Please read our Terms & Conditions for important cancellation/refund information.
